About the Registries OR... "What’s up with all these weird stores?"
by Charline
Jamie and I have registered on a few different web sites for baby gifts. We are hoping to use natural and organic products for the baby, so it is difficult to register at large retail stores. We understand that it is more difficult for some to buy gifts this way, but we would really appreciate the thought if you are able to take the time to peruse the sites listed in the "Baby Gift Registry List" section further down this page. Thank you!
Baby Nursery Colors - For those who like to coordinate colors...
We're almost finished with the painting. The last part, which we started last weekend, is the alternating rectangles that go around the room at about eye level, with the characters in them. Maybe we'll get that finished this weekend.
Since we have hardwood floors, we're planning to get a large area rug sort of like the one you see in the photo to the right.
Baby Gift Registry List
*We have purchased all of the organic clothing and blankets for the baby, so if you would like to get any of these items in regular cotton, please get sizes 6 mo. and above and realize that they will not be used until then; this is when we plan on beginning to use normal cotton. We also have all the baby body products we need (except for a few items on the registry). And please try to avoid plastic toys etc. whenever possible; for now, we do not plan on using plastic any time in the near future. And we love all of our photo albums and baby books, but we now have enough for about five babies, so I think we're set. Thanks!
Target great place to find Classic Pooh stuff (we just added new items to this list)
Baby Because everything from a baby monitor to a high chair
Earth Momma Angel Baby baskets of herbal teas and lotions for mother and baby or even a car seat or music box (You will need to deactivate your pop-up blocker, if you have one, in order to purchase from this site)
Babies 'R' Us even more Pooh items and some great soft toys
Want to shop elsewhere?
Whew... That's a lot of registries (in the list above). But, if that's not enough, and you're planning to buy elsewhere...
For the first year or so of our child's life, we'd like to encourage imaginative play with toys made of natural materials, like wood and organic cotton. It might seem paranoid to some, but we'd feel more comfortable sticking with completely natural materials for things the baby plays with, chews on, etc. We'd also like to take this natural approach with blankets and clothing.
We are decorating our nursery in "Classic Winnie the Pooh," so any decorative items from this line would be great (you can see the exact colors further up on this page). We have already accumulated an amazing amount of Pooh items so far since we are decorating the nursery. (It's too much fun!) And some we have received as Christmas presents.
Pooh Stuff We Already Have (That’s Not in the Registries)
In case you see some fun Classic Pooh things and want to know if we have them yet, we will keep a list of our purchases here.
We have:
-- a lamp that has a blue honey pot as its base,
-- a Winnie-the-Pooh baby book (yellow with quotes from the stories),
-- 10 wooden Pooh blocks that fit inside each other with the alphabet illustrated on them,
-- one little stuffed Tigger doll and one Eeyore doll (it's a baby doll's face under a soft "mask" of the characters ... I know it sounds scary, but they're actually cute, but they were out of the Pooh and Piglet ones), two picture frames (one says "The wonderful thing about babies, is babies are wonderful things." The other has Pooh holding up one end of the frame and Tiger at the other side),
-- some shape sorting wooden blocks,
-- a big block book, "Tigger,"
-- two small block books, "Pooh's Busy Day" and "Tigger's Bouncy Day,"
-- "My Very First Winnie the Pooh Growing up Stories" and
-- "More Growing up Stories,"
-- "The Complete Book of Pooh --Stories and Poems,"
-- a Pooh musical mobile,
-- a ceramic block bank,
-- two small framed pictures (one of Pooh's birthday party and one with Pooh and Piglet having tea),
-- a green baby scrap book by C. R. Gibson, and
-- a yellow and green "Disney Baby" keepsake box.
You think that's enough? Believe it or not, there's still tons of Classic Pooh stuff out there we would love to add to Baby Barger's collection. :)
You can get some ideas from www.ClassicPooh.com if you want, but small baby/gift stores are great for this stuff.
